TAHNEE
The fine people at Jump Media have kindly loaned us not one, but TWO of their leading musical starlets to perform at the The Clinic this Wednesday and it promises to be something special.
Tahneeās vocal style could be compared to a female Jack Johnson, with echoes of Melissa Etheridge. Her song writing inspiration stem from her love of life, lifeās loves, her eco- consciousness and her affinity with nature. Currently based in Dubai, Tahnee is taking her musical career to greater heights with album recordings and high profile performancesā¦this girl is definitely one to watch!
Tahneeās motto in life is āStay true to yourself and youāll never go wrong in lifeā
Tahnee will be backed up by The Simon van Gend band, an introspective indie/folk/rock band from Cape Town, whose music has been described as a unique blend of folksie foot-tapping red wine fireside poetry.
This trio with Simon on vocals and acoustic guitar, Eric Michot on bass and Ross Campbell on drums released their third album, Guest of my Feelings, last year. It was recorded by Joe Arthur, whose credits include both recent Freshlyground albums, Tony Cox and Watershed (all SAMA winners in their respective categories). The album also features the thigh-slapping mandolin of Brendon Bussy and the beautifully subtle piano of Chris Letcher, who also adds backing vocals and a host of other obscure instruments to the mix.
The critics hailed Pocketsongs, a completely home recorded and self-financed offering, released towards the end of 2005, as an acoustic gem. The single āDreamboatsā became a regularly requested favourite on Michelle Constantās Radio 2000 show.
Further to this we also have JOSHUA GRIERSON, a unique talent that fans have said āLooks like Freddy [Mercury], dances like Elvis [Presley] and sounds like Dylan [Bob]ā
A Cape Town born and raised singer and songwriter, Griersonās music is a must for all fans that enjoy deep, questioning lyrics and melodies resonant of another time.
A truly impressive line-up that is not to be missed.
Entry, as always, is free.
The Clinic is found on the terrace of the Cellar, overlooking the Aviation Club lake.
