The Valiant & The Seduction

The play tells the story of James Dyke, a confessed murderer who has been sentenced to die and now awaits his fate on death row. The only problem is that, no one knows who he really is or where he comes from, and he is determined to take his secret to the grave. The prison’s warden and chaplain have nearly given up hope of discovering his true identity until the night of Dyke’s execution when a strange young woman arrives requesting to see him. Now, she may be the only key to unlocking Dyke’s mysterious past.

The Seduction is a one-act comedy written by Anton Chekhov. It is an “instructional” play about how to seduce a woman.

About Backstage
What started out as a meeting of former members of an acting troupe soon became Dubai's latest amateur theater group featuring over 250 members from over 15 different nationalities. Backstage is a non-profit theater group which aims to showcase the talents of local theater artists and raise the profile of performing arts in the UAE. The group comprises of members of all ages and backgrounds who share a passion for theater.Backstage is a 250 member strong group dedicated to performing quality and professional plays that showcase the talent of Dubai residents. Through our performances we aim to highlight local talent in Dubai and raise awareness of theatre in general. Members of this troupe have a wide range of theatrical experience having acted and directed plays such as "12 Angry Men", "Othello", "And Then There Were None", "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" and "Art" among many others.

Our first major production, Yasmina Reza’s ‘Art’ was held in December 2009 at thejamjar gallery in Dubai. ‘Art’ was a Tony award winning comedy and was critically acclaimed by the media for the entertainment and the excellent performances of the actors.
