The role call of talents at Alpha over the last two years is impressive enough (Calvin Harris, Pendulum, Louie Vega, Roni Size, The Futureheads and hundreds more), but it's Alpha dedication to alternative live and DJ events that has marked it out from the rest of Dubai and won the club several awards, including Best Club (Time Out, 2009).

Powered by the city's first Funktion 1 soundsystem, Alpha has quickly made its mark - from drum and bass to hip hop, and from electro to rock and roll, and become the leading alternative venue in the region. And they've upped the ante once more with a two day DJ and live music celebration to mark their second birthday.What's more, you can catch all the LIVE World Cup action on Alpha's 6 flatscreen screens, and enjoy bucket of beer drink deals.

Who can forget the Dub Pistols first live show at Alpha nearly 2 years ago? With the club packed to the rafters, they delivered a 7-man dub/reggae/breaks masterclass, led by swaggering front man, Barry Ashworth. And with their fourth album, 'Rum and Coke', taking them around the world (Greece, Glastonbury in Dubai in a week!) and gaining them rave reviews, the band will hit Dubai for their second visit at the peak of their powers. Support on the night comes from See You Next Friday resident Da:Funct, Globalfunk's Mach 4 and a special DJ set from The Dub Pistols' main man, Barry Ashworth.

Friday June 25
Part two of the birthday bash is hosted by big-hitting night See You Next Friday, and have invited down a living legend: the man who's been in not one but two generation defining bands, partially responsible for the two of the best albums of the last 20 years, the man who fused together rock and roll and rave (the first time around) to create the Madchester scene and the man who created the basslines to 'Fool's Gold' and 'I Am The Resurrection'. He is Mani, bassist with Primal Scream and formerly of The Stone Roses and he'll be playing a classic indie, rock and roll and electro set. Live support on the night comes from Time Out's best band, and regular SYNF favourites, Tim Hassall and the August Company. Fresh from their recent Middle East tour, and with a new EP set to be aired at Alpha, THAC are well and truly on their way. DJ support comes from See You Next Friday's tag-team DJ duo Da:Funct and Just Some Kid.
