Now according to the Chinese New Year, 2010 is the year of the Tiger. People born under this year (1974, 1986, 1998,) are said to be lucky, vivid, lively and engaging and uninhibited in nature. Can the same be said for the Dubai entertainment scene? We certainly hope so. We’ve long championed a move in a more liberal direction, and with bar licenses and permissions leaning towards a more lenient disposition we still feel hopeful about 2010.

There’s Valentine’s Day to warm your cockles, followed by the next Full Moon and one of our favourite live acts ever, the Cuban Brothers! They energise and delight with their unique blend of Caribbean charm and break-dancing. The boys were kind enough to take time out from fake-tanning to give us their exclusive. We chat to Bloc Party front-man Kele Okereke, who plays a DJ set at Alpha, and even get comfy with global trance giant Paul van Dyk as he prepares to revisit Chi. We’re also tackling a subject very close to our Infusion hearts – the art of warm-up; tips and facts inside.

Ever considered clubbing in Bahrain? We have part 1 of In the Diary with Mr Doris, a long-standing Ibiza resident who’s recently decamped to a residency at Muju in Bahrain. For local news, we check out Hidden Jewels of Dubai and focus on Shakespeare’s café and pay a visit to latest hot-spot Horizon Lounge. We also have the most coveted competition and giveaway prizes in Dubai, with a table at the Cuban Brothers, vouchers for Shakespeare’s, and tickets for Bloc Party, Monster Trucks and Paul van Dyk events. If I tell you anymore I’ll spoil it…read on.

See you on a the B Side,
Selina Ribena and Chaka Laka
