So we’re still hearing of people leaving the country, redundancies, bailouts and speculation that our fair city is in turmoil and under attack from the very same people that lauded it as the quintessential city of the future, we still get stuck in traffic jams, we still queue for cinema tickets and pop-corn (why are there never enough pop-corn sellers on hand?)
As the financial situation becomes less of a crunchy crisis and more a cacophony of confusion and contradiction (ooh, alliteration: fancy!) we are still doing the things that we always have done. And we’re still doing it well;
With Maiden and Motorhead behind us and Deep Purple and Coldplay in front, our night-life certainly seems to have not been effected. In terms of club-life, the Chill Lounge has shown huge success with Circus (mabrook, by the way) and the return of Metcalf’s Saturday Groove-fest and more on the horizon (cue Kazeen), Daxar hopping back on the scene after a short absence and even the mighty Tiesto returning we are forced to ask again the question on many of our lips: Credit Crunch? What Credit Crunch?
All this being said, our thoughts go out to friends and family who, clearly, have been hit – to those at ITP and Dubai 92, in particular; chins up – what are feet for, if not to land upon?
Infusion, as ever, keeping it real optimistic.
Mike and Charl.
