Fear is the thief of dreams
How would you find yourself, if you did not know you exist?
Studied at 16, 2 years national diploma in Graphic design, at Reading college of Arts, then took a gap year to go to Australia for five months of conservation volunteer work, which inspired me greatly. Next i went on to Study for my Higher National Diploma at Reading college of arts (which changed to TVU whilst i was there) after my first year i travelled to Argentina for a month then the east coast of the USA. the travels i had been doing in them few years made me think of the World city map series i am creating from lino cuts.. The first map i created was of New York, this got me into the international society of Typographic designers, which then lead onto a commission to make a map of London from lino cutting then printing. the first piece of work i did of new york had been featured in Grafik magazine, which lead to a commission from the arts council of England to do a Design and Linoleum carving for/of their front cover. The actual linoleum cut was photographed, and used as the front cover. This then lead me to want to carry on the series, with which i did Amsterdam, and have had much success with the series since. This series won me a Silver Cube from the Art Directors Club in New York which i attended the Gala for. i have had my work displayed in Grafic, and Creative Review Magazine. and will be apearing in the Taiwon magazine Xfuns mid August 2008. i enjoy working on many different disciplines, but am concentrating on linoleum cutting as i feel a lot more can be done with it then what has been done already. This is what then got me into making Linomation (which i coined the phrase for) Linomation is Linoleum + Animation. I have so far made 2 Linomations, the second getting more detailed then the first. I would like to one day carve a long animation. Linomation is quite a different animation media in that their are four outcomes, lino cut animation, lino print animation, plain still prints from the lino, and the linocarving itself. im now looking for more work.
