Rave Revolution

RAVERS UNITE
Dim the lights, check your glow-sticks, add pumping happy hardcore tunes with an aerobics instructor and wannabe ravers – and you get the Core Rave Workout. The rave revolution is the newest in unusual exercise; the class combines dance moves that Helter Skelter would be proud of, with authentic cheers, glowsticks and pounding bass. Infusion crew checked it out and we have one thing to say, “Whistle posse, are you with me!?”
Infusion’s 10 Raving Commandments
1. Don’t stop raving even if your heart can’t take anymore.
2. Reach your hands up higher than the sky.
3. Make the ground shake with your feet.
4. Scream your hearts out and let yourself be known.
5. Rave on those graves who are against you.
6. Respect and pray to the raving god.
7. Respect the music with your souls.
8. Make adrenaline part of your own beating heart.
9. Let your pulse rates increase.
10. Raving is for life.
Instructor and ex-raver Lynsey Fraser discusses her hopes for the class…
“The class began in January but similar rave style classes have been going on for years in the UK and the states; this is the first time it’s been seen in the UAE. It’s a good workout because it’s great cardio training but loads of fun to do at the same time. I think it will be popular because it’s far more fun than slogging it out on a tread mill. With the lights and music it feels like a party not a workout. In the future we plan to bring in the Reebok Jukari program, which is a trapeze style class designed by Cirque du Soleil and then who knows what our next location will bring... watch this space for 2010.”
We have to report that the class was definitely a novel way to work out and the old skool induced some serious clubbing nostalgia. We were disappointed our favourite ‘big-boxes-little-boxes’ move didn’t appear in favour of more traditional aerobics, but we got our heart rates going and had a good laugh.
