Pierre Ravan releases the 5th series of KaRavan – Soul Liberation

A proclaimed fashion DJ, Pierre Ravan has played across the globe for the industry’s most influential designers, including Jean Paul Gaultier and Paco Rabanne. As a major player on the international circuit for the last decade, he has garnered respect as a DJ, producer and remixer as well as contributing to his own variety of music which he refers to as ‘Spiritual House.’ To illustrate this, Pierre has just released the 5th series of ‘KaRavan’, the unique concept and musical journey called ‘Soul Liberation’. With soulful and deep sound extending to a darker and more progressive mood on a 2CD box, blending the finest of house music influenced by different parts of the world.

You’ve just released the 5th series of KaRavan, called Soul Liberation. Tell us about the musical journey?
The concept is based on a spiritual journey through music from a soulful and deeper sound extending to a darker and progressive mood, all in one single journey linking the beginning with the end. CD1 is called SoulFul and CD2 SoulTek…all the elements of soul.

What hopes do you have for this album?
All depends what you mean by hope? If it’s financial hope then I don’t believe I will make money with but as far as touching hearts of many and being played by professional and an old school music connoisseur then – YES - it morally it will be like any other KaRavan; a big success….
With previous compilations called Spiritual Dance, Human Integration and Unity appear to convey very strong messages about peace and harmony.

Can you elaborate on this concept?
Well true music is a message which connects you to your inner being and I call it Higher Self…my whole concept is based on a musical journey like caravan which never stops and invite everybody to be part of this journey and be UNITED regardless of their race, cultural and social background and be as ONE on the dance-floor!

How do you select the artists and vocalists for the compilations? Do you struggle with this?
I worked for more than 7 months to make this double CD project happen to gather all the material that I feel will fit my concept and I myself edited or remixed some parts and added my own effects. Most of the tracks are from producers who support me in my venture.

You also recently released a single ‘Eyes Should be Washed’ (with Spin Science). What other productions do you have in store?
Well, firstly after the hug success of ESBW in WMC 10,the label (Conya-Germany) decided to have some nice remixes to be done by Jay Tripwire, Satoshi Fumi, Brazilian Soul Crew and I invited my dear friend Sam Farsio from Dubai to do a special Persian Vocal remix to have a perfect remix package… Secondly I am re-mastering my production album SPIRITUAL BROTHERS that was released back in 2002 under EMI/Capitol/Virgin and I now working to re-release it with new remixes and touch with some new Label (secret) soon. I am as well finishing some production of a Beautiful Indian Classical singer (Drum&Bass style) and try to make a new single for Ibiza with Spin Again…

You’re a ‘fashion DJ’, having played globally for Cavalli and D & G. What does being a fashion DJ mean to you?
Well I never created or self-confessed such a name myself but I was getting famous under such name and I was quoted as such by media due to the fact I have started to produce music 15 years back for Fashion designers collections (the 1st was PACO RABANNE) and I was travelling with them to play for all their after parties…then I started to compile music for them and my style of music was deferring depending on their collections…
